The work of the Berlin-based artist and filmmaker Rosa Barba is distinguished by her conceptual exploration of film. In this publication she devises a progressive vision for the cinema of the future. Barba translates questions of composition and plasticity into precisely staged arrangements that open up new ways of looking at both the material and the conceptual conditions of the medium of film.
Starting with Barba's artistic research, this volume deals with the concept of an anarchical organization of filmic spaces-a work principle that could shape a new way of thinking by destabilizing traditional cinematic structures. Through this, the author undertakes a journey to an imaginary political trope for today's cinema.
Le CAPC musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux développe une nouvelle série d'ouvrages particulièrement dédiée aux installations spécifiques de la nef du CAPC qui construisent depuis plus de 40 ans, à travers des projets magistraux et ambitieux, la notoriété du musée. Cette série veut rendre hommage et faire valoir une mémoire visuelle forte de ces réalisations à grande échelle. C'est pourquoi, par un choix exigeant, cette série confiée sur le plan graphique au Studio Manuel Raeder met l'accent sur l'image dans un format approprié selon une logique radicale. Le second ouvrage de cette série est consacré à l'exposition « De la source au poème » de l'artiste Rosa Barba dont le travail a été présenté au CAPC du 17 novembre 2016 au 26 mars 2017. Cet ouvrage entièrement conçu et pensé comme un livre d'artiste par Rosa Barba propose un regard syncrétique, une traversée riche et poétique de l'exposition de l'artiste. Une interview éclaire le lecteur sur les tenants et les aboutissants de cette magistrale installation réalisée dans la grande nef qui célèbre le patrimoine culturel de la civilisation occidentale.
